Italian Article of the Day:

It’s a sad one. The nightclub Lanterna Azzurra in Corinaldo, Ancona, Italy suffered a stampede in which several were injured, with CNN and other news reports 100 injured and 6 dead. Very, very saddening and depressing. Lanterna Azzurra means Blue (sky blue/light blue) Lantern. Most of the ones killed were minors attending the rap concert of Sfera Ebbasta. There are rumors of pepper spray being used which caused the panicking and stampeding. When the concert goers rushed out the railing outside collapsed, sending people falling and others falling on top of one another. 1,400 tickets were sold but the venue is limited to legally hold 870 people. Italian President Sergio Mattarella said he would work tirelessly to determine what was responsible for the deaths at the nightclub. Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said investigators were looking into whether “ammonia, pepper spray, toxic substances” were used inside the club before the stampede, according to The New York Times. Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister, Luigi Di Maio, published the names of victims, all between the ages of 14 and 16, on his Facebook page.
